This was a beautiful and reflective piece. It resonated deeply and I felt something that said, this is what we could have been, everyone all in, pulling together, if only we didn’t give all of our power of being away.
And now I wonder if that’s not being asked of us again, to stop the wheel and get off and give this collaboration and dependence on one another a deeper go. Such a hopeful thought.
Thank you for sharing your journey. Love also your new planter.❤️
I’m spending an inordinate amount of time deciding what to plant in it 😊. I think we are being asked to get off the wheel and start relying on each other (and ourselves) again. I think our future will depend on it
I so agree. Because we are unable to figure it out on our own- we are being forced to reconcile, through collapse, that together we are better. Your words always make me step beneath the surface of what’s being shown. Thank you. Can’t wait to see what you plant. 🤗❤️
"we can choose to live a life less ordinary if we’re willing to take a few risks and step out of conventional thinking." So funny how this message landed in my inbox just as I was pondering the very same thing, and the recent theme in my writing community was "creative risk". You are absolutely spot on ... we MUST be open to them, that's the part I don't think folks realize. And not only to we have to be open to them we have to actively show that openness. I love your newsletters and this one was such an inspiration. Thank you!
We loved our drive round Tassie a few years ago. We definitely visited Ross and maybe Oatlands, I think. Maybe that’s where Steve found his favourite whiskey?? We missed Lutruwita though, sounds like it really touched your soul! Love the new planter!!! ❤️
Oh you’ve been to our magical little island? Come again! You’ll remember Oatlands, it has the huge windmill. Also, Lutruwita is the indigenous name for Tasmania.
No need to apologise, it’s not common knowledge, but the locals like to use it. We call Mount Wellington “Kunyani,”which is its indigenous name. I like that about this place, we take a bit of pride in our history, both indigenous and convict. Callington Mill makes fab whiskey!
It feels so peaceful and lovely. Thanks for sharing. You are just about the farthest point across the world from where I am but there are still universal truths like the beauty of the view from a sweet rural bathroom.
It is so peaceful, makes it very easy to forget the rest of the world exists some days 😊. Bathroom views are new to me, but I’m looking forward to discovering more of them.
When I worked on the ski mountain, our employee bathroom had the best view of the valley. It’s a good place to force yourself to just breathe. Not much else to do in that moment.

You’re so welcome! I hadn’t considered actively showing that openness but yes, you’re completely right 💕
I love following along on you getaway and it's so true, there are possibilities everywhere as long as you're open for them.
That’s the thing right? You have to be open to the possibilities, and aware of the obligations they may bring.

Oh my apologies for being so naive about that! Yes definitely did go to oatlands where Steve discovered Callington mill whiskey

Haha! I hadn’t thought of it like that, but so true!
